I had the hardest time finding this online, for the photo (both online and on the box it came in) makes the crock pot look a lot wider and shorter than it is in real life. This is kind of a tall/skinny crock pot. Hopefully mine doesn't fall to pieces.
I have noticed it gets uncomfortably hot. I thought it would be a little better insulated, but it does make the entire kitchen quite warm, which is disappointing, because I thought it would be nice for being able to cook meals without getting as hot (as the oven would make the kitchen). The only benefit at this point is that I don't have to be very involved.

I use this pot a lot - especially in the winter. I have some great recipes and like to freeze things down. I also like hot cider and making my own chai concentrate.
The lid on this has a plastic handle attached to the glass with a philips head screw. It's hard to clean between the plastic and glass, and it always seems gross.
I wish I had a programmable pot with a "keep warm" function...overcooked food is not so great.
Overall, the construction quality seems a little cheap. The stoneware is solid, but can be hard to clean when something gets burned on (whoops). The rest of it is flimsy metal and plastic.
It's not bad, it's just not GREAT.

The size is perfect for large batches of hot dips, heating is even, and cleanup is easy. It's nice, too, that it's not gigantic to store since I don't use it regularly, mainly for entertaining.
I did notice today when running errands that WalMart sells this model (SCR400-B) for just under $15, so shop around locally for the best price before assuming you'll find it online. You may find the bargain around the corner from your house at 40% off!
